Use and Care of a Digital Probe

  • Updated

Care should be taken when using a digital probe:

Open the rotating probe to turn the instrument on. Close to turn it off.

  • DON’T store the instrument with the probe open. Fold probe away for storage.

The probe rotates on the hub up to 180 degrees.

  • DON’T force probe open past 180 degrees. Rotating past 180 degrees will break the hub stop.

An amber light indicates the battery is okay. A red light means it is time to change battery.

Insert the probe tip into the center of food for best performance.

  • With the tip inserted in the center of the food item, press the Transmit Button to record the reading to the ComplianceMate Mobile App.
  • DON’T immerse the probe into food up to or past the hub as food can enter the hub and into the housing.
  • DON’T use the probe to pry, stab, jab, hammer, strike, chop, or lift foods as the probe will bend or break and the hub seal will be compromised.
  • DON’T expose the probe to temperatures above 572°F (300°C) as probe will fail.

Clean the rotating hub with an anti-bacterial wipe after each use to keep food and oils from collecting on the hub.

  • DON’T open or close the probe hub while immersed in water or during cleaning as moisture can enter the housing.
  • DON’T allow food to collect on or around the hub as it will wipe inside during use.
  • DON’T clean in a dishwasher.

The instrument is water and dust resistant.

  • DON’T drop, or rest on surfaces above 122°F (50°C).
  • Install a silicone rubber boot to protect from drops and high heat. Remove for cleaning.
