Why is one sensor not reporting data to the Dashboard?

Answer

Before you begin diagnosing issues with a sensor, you should pause alert notifications for that sensor to prevent alerts from being repeatedly sent. Once you have resolved the issue, you can resume alert notifications. For more information, see Pausing and Resuming Sensor Alert Notifications.

If a sensor is not reporting data to the Dashboard, it most likely means one of the following:

  • The sensor is blocked from sending data to the gateway by an object.
  • The batteries have died and the sensor is no longer working.
  • The sensor has failed and needs to be replaced.

The sensor light can help you diagnose the issue.

Is the sensor light flashing?

The light on the front of the sensor flashes every 15 seconds.

If the light is flashing green, it means everything is working properly. If there is still no data reported to the Dashboard, Contact Support for assistance.

If the light is flashing red, it means the sensor is working but not communicating with the gateway:

  • Is the sensor blocked by an object that is preventing the signal from reaching the gateway?

If the light is not flashing:

  1. Remove the sensor.
  2. Open the battery compartment and remove the batteries.
  3. Check for signs of moisture or corrosion:
    • If there are signs of moisture or corrosion, the sensor will need to be replaced. Contact Support for assistance.
    • If there are no signs of moisture or corrosion, insert the batteries without the cover to see if the sensor light flashes blue and then green.
      • If the light starts flashing, replace the cover and reinstall the sensor.
      • If the light does not starting flashing, the batteries need to be replaced (see the Sensor Batteries section of Maintenance & Troubleshooting).

If none of the above resolves the issue, Contact Support for assistance.
