Battery Replacement 2: Gray Box Transmitter

About this Article

This article is about replacing the batteries in a Gray Box Transmitter:

For instructions on replacing the batteries in other sensors, refer to those specific instructions.

PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING

Replacing the Batteries

You have paused the sensor alerts (see more >), and are now ready to begin replacing the batteries:

Instructions

  1. Remove the sensor from the location where it is mounted, being careful not to damage the sensor.
  2. Allow the sensor to adjust to room temperature. This could take up to 30 minutes for a sensor that has been in a freezer. Working on a sensor that is colder than room temperature could cause moisture to build up inside the sensor when you open it to replace the batteries. Moisture can damage the inside of the sensor.
  3. Working over a surface such as a desk or table, remove the four (4) screws that hold down the clear plastic cover:

  4. Turn the sensor OFF by inserting a paperclip into hole near the antenna, and moving the switch towards the antenna (from left to right):

  5. Pop out the batteries, making note of which way the batteries face (i.e., + to + and - to -), as they may face different alternating directions.
  6. Put the new batteries in the sensor, making sure they are facing in the correct direction (i.e., + to + and - to -).
  7. Turn the sensor back ON by inserting a paperclipinto the hole near the antenna, and moving the swicth away from the antenna (from right to left). You should see the LED flash, indicating that the sensor is on:

  8. Screw the cover back on. Make sure you do not over torque the screws.

Now, we will verify that the sensor is working [GO>]
