About this Article
This article is about replacing the batteries in a Clear Top NEMA Transmitter:
For instructions on replacing the batteries in other sensors, refer to those specific instructions.
PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING
Replacing the Batteries
You have paused the sensor alerts (see more >), and are now ready to begin replacing the batteries:
Instructions
- Remove the sensor from the location where it is mounted, being careful not to damage the sensor.
- Allow the sensor to adjust to room temperature. This could take up to 30 minutes for a sensor that has been in a freezer. Working on a sensor that is colder than room temperature could cause moisture to build up inside the sensor when you open it to replace the batteries. Moisture can damage the inside of the sensor.
- Working over a surface such as a desk or table, remove the four (4) screws that hold down the clear plastic cover:
- Flip the toggle (see figure below) switch from ON to OFF. For reference you would be moving the switch from position right to left when the antenna is at the 12 o’clock position. The switch towards the outside edge is “off”:
- Remove the green board.
- If the board is in tight carefully use a flat head screw driver and gently lift the bottom end of the board up. Once you have lifted the board free, remove both batteries.
- Pop out the batteries, making note of which way the batteries face (i.e., + to + and - to -), as they may face different alternating directions:
- Put the new batteries in the sensor, making sure they are facing in the correct direction (i.e., + to + and - to -).
- Place the green board back into plastic case.
- Turn the sensor on (slide switch towards the inside, away from the outside edge). You should see the little red light flash one time.
- Screw the cover back on. Make sure you do not over torque the screws.
Now, we will verify that the sensor is working [GO>]
