Completing a Checklist Item

The following takes you through the process of using the Mobile App to respond to each type of item found in a Standard or Reusable checklist.

Before Responding to a Checklist Item

Before responding to a checklist item, consider the following:

• If the N/A button appears at the bottom of the screen and the item is not required (that is, it does not have a red asterisk next to the question/description), you can tap the N/A button to skip the item:

  

• If the comment button (pencil icon) appears at the bottom of the screen and you want to add a comment to your response, tap the button before you respond to the item, enter your comment, and tap SUBMIT.

    

• If the image button (camera icon) appears at the bottom of the screen and you want to add an image to your response, tap the button before you respond to the item, take the picture, and click OK.

After Responding to a Checklist Item

After you respond to a checklist item, one of the following will occur:

• If there are additional checklist items to be completed, the screen for the next item on the list appears.
• If the item you just responded to is the last one on the list, the checklist items screen appears.
• If the item you just answered is setup for compliance and the answer you provided is out of compliance, a Corrective Action will be triggered and must be processed before you can proceed.

Responding to a Text List Item

To respond to a Text item, carry out the following:

1. Tap in the green box.
2. Using text, enter your response.
3. Click SUBMIT.

Text items support adding images to responses if enabled, but not comments.

Text items do not trigger corrective actions.

Responding to a Multiple Choice List Item

To respond to a Multiple Choice item, carry out the following:

1. From the list of responses that appears on the screen, tap on the one you want to use.

Multiple choice items do not support adding comments and images to responses.

Multiple choice item responses do not trigger corrective actions.

Responding to a YES/NO List Item

To respond to a YES/NO item, carry out the following:

1. Tap YES or NO.

YES/NO items support adding comments and images to responses if enabled.

YES/NO item responses can trigger corrective actions:

• If NO is set to be non-compliant, responding NO will trigger a Corrective Action but YES will not.
• If YES is set to be non-compliant, responding YES will trigger a Corrective Action but NO will not. 

Responding to an Image List Item

To respond to Image items, carry out the following:

1. Tap the image button (blue camera icon) at the bottom of the screen. The tablet's camera is activated.
2. Take the picture:
   • If the picture is not acceptable, tap Retry and take the picture again.
   • If the picture is acceptable, tap OK. The image item screen appears with the picture added to it.
3. Tap the save icon located at the bottom right of the screen.

Image items support adding comments to responses if enabled.

Image item responses do not trigger corrective actions.

Responding to a Signature List Item

To respond to Signature items, carry out the following:

1. Use your finger or a stylus to sign your name above the line in the space provided
   • After you make a mark in this area, the word clear appears in the upper right corner. If you want to retry signing your signature, you can tap clear.
2. Tap the save icon located at the bottom right of the screen.

Signature items do not support adding comments and images to responses.

Signature item responses do not trigger corrective actions.

Responding to a Numeric List Item

To respond to Numeric items, carry out the following:

1. Tap in the green box.
2. Enter your response using the numeric keypad that appears.
3. Tap SUBMIT.

Numeric items support adding comments and images to responses if enabled.

Numeric item responses can trigger corrective actions if the number entered is not in compliance (that is, below the minimum acceptable value or above the maximum acceptable value).

Responding to a Manual Temperature Entry List Item

To respond to Manual Temperature Entry items, carry out the following:

1. Tap in the green box.
2. Enter your response using the numeric keypad that appears.
3. Tap SUBMIT.

Manual temperature entry items support adding comments and images to responses if enabled.

Manual temperature entry item responses can trigger corrective actions if the number entered is not in compliance (that is, below the minimum acceptable value or above the maximum acceptable value).

Responding to a Digital Temperature Probe List Item

To respond to a list item that requires a Digital Temperature Probe (e.g., a Thermapen Blue), carry out the following:

1. Wipe off and disinfect the probe to avoid any cross-contamination with other products.

   

2. Turn on the digital probe you will use with the checklist.
3. Start the checklist. The Mobile App connects to the probe (see Checklists Requiring Digital Probes).
4. When you reach a digital temperature probe checklist item, enter any comments or attach images, if enabled, before taking the temperature reading.
5. Insert the probe into item requiring its temperature to be measured. The reading appears in the circle on the screen:
   • If the value is a valid temperature, the circle turns green.
   • If the value is below the minimum valid temperature, the circle turns blue.
   • If the value is above the maximum valid temperature, the circle turns orange.
6. Press the button on the digital probe to lock in and submit the temperature reading.
   • If enabled, complete any corrective actions that may have been triggered.

Responding to a Dishwasher Temperature Probe List Item

To respond to a checklist item that requires a Dishwater Temperature Probe (e.g., a dishwater plate simulator, such as the DishTemp Blue) items, carry out the following:

1. Before starting the checklist, turn on the dishwater temperature probe, place it in the dishwasher, and run it through the wash cycle using the manufacturer's instructions:

   

2. When the cycle ends, start the checklist that will collect information from the dishwater temperature probe. The Mobile App will connect to the probe (see Checklists Requiring Digital Probes).
3. When you reach the dishwater temperature probe checklist item, you will see a high temperature reading from the sensor on the checklist item. This is the high temperature achieved during the wash:

        

4. Click Submit.

   

5. Turn off the dishwater temperature probe after you have completed the checklist, as the battery has a very short life (~10 hours) and the Bluetooth signal from the probe may interfere with other probes.
