Checklists Requiring Digital Probes

  • Updated

When you start a checklist, the Mobile App checks to see if any of the required checklist items require a digital or dish-temp probe for measuring temperatures:

  • If the checklist does not require a digital probe to complete one of the required checklist items, the checklist is opened.
  • If the checklist does require a digital probe to complete one of the required checklist items, the system will search to see if an active probe exists:
    • Make sure your probe is turned on.
    • If an active probe is found, the Mobile App will connect to it and open the checklist:

    • If multiple active probes are found, a list of probes appears:
      • Turn off the ones you are not going to use, leaving on the one you intended to use with the list.
      • Select the one you intend to use with the list. It will connect and the checklist will open.
    • If no active probe is found, one will need to be connected using the Probes function before you can open the checklist:

For more information on adding a digital probe to the tablet, see Connecting a Digital Probe to the Mobile App.

Probe On?

If after successfully starting a checklist and accessing a probe item you get the Probe On? message, it means the Mobile App is having issues communicating with the probe:

Check the message at the bottom of the screen:

  • If the message says the probe is Connected, close the checklist, then open again.

  • If the message says the probe is Disconnected, it means the probe was closed or stopped working after the checklist was opened:

    • If the probe was closed, open it and wait 15 seconds for it to connect to the tablet. If the probe does not connect, shut the probe for 15 seconds and then re-open the probe and try again.
    • If the probe is open, press the transmit button to get the LEDs to flash. If they are amber, the battery is good. If they are red, the battery needs replacing (see Replacing the Battery in a Digital Probe).
    • If the probe is open and the LEDs are amber, then you will need to try pairing the probe again to the Mobile App (see Connecting a Digital Probe to the Mobile App).
