I am getting NaN as a reading when I use the Thermoworks probe. What do I do?

Answer

An NaN (Not a Number) reading from your digital probe means there could be an issue that requires repair by ThermoWorks. Before going down that route, try the following:

  1. Re-temp the item by allowing the probe to sit in the product for about 15 seconds before pressing the button.
  2. If you still get an NaN response, retry up to 2 more times.

If that does not work, you will need to contact the Thermoworks Returns and Repairs service group to have a repair case opened and an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) sent to you so you can send them the probe.

To continue working with timed logs and checklists that require digital probes, see How do I complete a checklist if the probe is being repaired?.
