How do I do a reset on my Samsung tablet?

  • Updated

Answer

There are four types of resets available for the Samsung tablet:

  1. Reset all settings will reset all settings on your tablet except:
    • Security settings
    • Language settings
    • Accounts
    • Personal data
    • Settings for downloaded apps

We recommend this reset if you intend to retain possession of your tablet.

  2. Factory data reset will return your tablet to its factory defaults, erasing all personal data, files, and downloaded apps. You may want to carry out this type of result if you are sending in your tablet for repair or you intend to no longer use it.
  3. Reset network settings will erase all Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile network settings. This will not erase your apps or data (per Samsung).
  4. Reset accessibility settings will erase your preferences for apps such as TalkBack, Spoken assistance, and more, so you can start fresh.

To reset your tablet, carry out the following:

  1. Tap Settings > General Management > Reset.
    • Alternately, you can tap Settings > About tablet > Reset.
  2. Choose the type of reset you want to carry out. A dialog appears for confirmation.
  3. Tap the button to proceed, Delete settings or Delete all, depending on which reset you chose.
  4. Your device will restart:
    • If you choose Factory data reset, your computer will start from the initial setup screen.
    • For all others, you should check to make sure the tablet settings required for the Mobile App are still properly set (see Tablet Settings for the Mobile App).

If you have any issues during the reset process, refer to the information provide by Samsung at Perform a factory reset on your Galaxy phone or tablet.
