How do I update the OS on a Samsung tablet?

To update the operating system on a Samsung tablet, carry out the following:

  1. Press the Home key, then locate the Settings app.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Software update.
  4. Tap Download and install. The system will check for updates:
    • If updates are found, they will be downloaded and installed on the tablet.
    • If the tablet is current, a message appears advising you that Your software is up to date.

To set up automatic updates when you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, carry out the following:

  1. Press the Home key, then locate the Settings app.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Software update.
  4. Enable Auto download over Wi-Fi. The next time an update is available, it will be automatically downloaded and installed on the tablet.

To view information about the operating system, carry out the following:

  1. Press the Home key, then locate the Settings app.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap About tablet.
  4. Tap Software information. All version information for the operating system appears.
