Mobile App v6 Checklists Requiring Digital Probes

  • Updated

This article is for Mobile App v6. If you are looking for help with Mobile App v5.3, click here.

When you start a checklist, the Mobile App checks to see if any of the required checklist items require a digital or dish-temp probe for measuring temperatures:

If the checklist does require a digital probe to complete one of the required checklist items, the system will search to see if an active probe exists:

  • Make sure your probe is turned on and active.
  • If an active probe is found, the Mobile App will connect to it and open the checklist with the following message at the bottom of the screen that identifies the probe to be used:

    • If you have multiple probes and need to switch to a different one for the checklist, click Change probe and choose the one you want to use.
  • If a probe exists but it is not active (i.e., not turned on), the checklist opens with the following message at the bottom of the screen that identifies the probe to be used and the fact that it is not connected:

    • Turn on the probe and wait a few seconds for the probe to connect to the tablet. Once connected, the message at the bottom of the screen is updated to show the probe connected.
    • If you have multiple probes and need to switch to a different one for the checklist, click Change probe and choose the one you want to use.
  • If multiple active probes are found, a list of those probes appears:

    • Select the one you intend to use with the list. It will connect and the checklist will open.
    • If you need to change which probes are active, click Go to Probes to open the Settings > Probes List. For more information, see Connecting a Digital Probe to Mobile App v6.
  • If no active probe is found, one will need to be connected using the Probes function before you can open the checklist:

Tap OK to close the dialog and then go Settings to add a digital probe for use with this checklist and any others that may require a digital probe. For more information on adding a digital probe to the tablet, see Connecting a Digital Probe to Mobile App v6.

Probe On?

After successfully starting a checklist and accessing a item that requires a digital probe, the Mobile App will make a connection with that probe and attempt to get a temperature reading:

If a temperature does not appear but a Probe On? message does, the Mobile App is trying to locate the probe and get a reading. It will first search for the probe and then display dashed lines instead of a temperature:

This means the Mobile App is having issues communicating with the probe and most likely means the probe has been turned off (i.e., closed) since the checklist was started. Turn the probe back on and wait a few seconds for the Mobile App to re-connect and take a reading.
